Hello LC/Driverboy, I just wanted to say that I have been playing Cataclysm for a while now (since the first version Whales released to the public) and I saw the hate posts about you in the DDA forums. I decided to play your version since people at DDA said it was bad and I felt that it was actually pretty decent. The opinions that some people have about you may be true or they may be false, but you seem like a decent programmer with some good ideas so I really don't care about your sanity (or lack thereof). I do however have some questions about your version and I believe MGS could potentially become better than DDA if you worked on it some more.
Hello. Firstly, do you intend on working on Cataclysm: MGS anymore?
If so what kind of content do you plan on adding?
Not for PC. I think it is good enough for what it is. I was thinking of making proper Android port, but then I realized I'd be better off making a whole new game from scratch. Something like Resident Evil with Jagged Alliance type of turn based combat. I like "combine items" feature in both those games rather than Cataclysm crafting menu. I prefer balanced simplicity over ton of purposeless content and tedious complexity, strategy and tactics rather than exploration. I also had enough of ACSII, I normally do 3D graphics, it's what I enjoy making the most. Is there an ascii option? Yes, press F3 to switch between tiles and ASCII. Why do you waste your time at DDA forums? Your version has potential, why bother trying to fix their problems?
It's for fun. Anyway, I really like your ability to implement the Z levels, when DDA was been making excuses for ages about development.
Cheers.

The freedom of speech, enjoy. Just to clarify - we included a single small piece of his code once and he chewed us out for it and insisted he remove it...
Little code, big changes, because I'm amazing. I chewed you for two months to merge it, only when you went on Kickstarer did I say I don't want my code to be a part of it. It was a gift to everyone, just like the whole game made by Whales is, but with your lack of morals you do not understand by taking money for it you disgraced it. and it would never have been as simple as a single button click since he refuses to learn how to use the code management tools the project runs on (git, github).
If you downloaded it on your computer it would be just as if you made it, and then, as you say yourself, you could have indeed merged it with a single button click. Since then he's mostly been trolling the forums spamming advertisements for a mod he's said he's not even interested in working on anymore.
Not interested to work on it any more because I made what I set out to make, and more. I never really wanted to be working on this game in the first place, I just wanted to help you fix the bugs. No good deed goes unpunished, always remember. Driver-man, Driver-man, does whatever a driver can Spins a code any size, catches bugs just like flies Look out, here comes the Driver-man!
Is he strong? Listen bud, he's got radioactive blood Can he swing from a thread? Take a look overhead Hey, there! There goes the Driver-man!
In the chill of the night At the scene of a crime Like a streak of light He arrives just in time!
Driver-man, Driver-man, friendly neighborhood Driver-man Wealth and fame he's ignored, thrill & action is his reward Look out, here comes the Driver-man!

Although tedious it's fairly easy to transfer tiles if you know how to use Photoshop, by copy/pasting each tile at its appropriate place in their tileset, but I don't have graphics for monsters, items, fields and traps. There is actually graphics for lots of those, only it's completely different style.
By the way, in case you don't already know, when aiming a gun you can press pause/wait to "focus", which will skip a turn but it will lower recoil to zero and increase your chances to hit by 50%. It saves you bullets and without it you would probably have a hard time fighting off more than few monsters.

I downloaded the MGSmod rev.83b-tiles mod and played it yesterday, was pretty fun actually. As for the 64 bit SDL .dll's that are listed. What are these for? I ignored them for now but am wondering if they are needed for anything specific and that I use windows 64 bit.
They are substitutes for 32-bit .dll files. There was a guy with 64-bit Win8 that said the game didn't work, so I gave him those 64-bit .dll files and he said that fixed the problem. If it works for you as it is just ignore them. Also I do enjoy playing DDA as well so is there a way to get the music & tiles to work on there also? I find this mod to be more addictive than DDA but that is just my opinion, then again maybe I played DDA a bit too much. The tiles and audio seem to give it more atmosphere as well but if there is a way to put them to work with DDA I would be a happy camper from both worlds.
Music and sound effects make the game 100x better for me, I'm quite surprised it didn't generate more attention. At the time I implemented and was offering it to be merged into DDA both builds were still compatible and it was basically a matter of pressing a button to get it into DDA. But for some strange reason they ignored it and now it would be much harder, but still it could be done in one afternoon if you are familiar with the code.

People might be a bit more receptive to your version of the game if you weren't butt hurt incarnate. I've spoken in defense of your game multiple times on IRC; for all the obnoxious **** you do, your code is somewhat solid and you've made progress on things that the DDA version hasn't.
But for the limited amount of "good" things that can be said about what you've done, your obnoxious acts are worth noting ten fold.
Hey, it's not my fault I'm crazy. Try to understand this: Imagine if you were to be the bigger man and just move on from your weird obsession with the DDA forums and put all the effort that you have in spamming in to something productive, like say, developing your version of the game. Maybe, just maybe, your player base would expand beyond...uh, no one except a couple people.
I'd say MGS is already 100x better. But how are people supposed to get to know about it? There is just so many people interested to play this game, and most of them are on DDA and DF forums. I don't really have a choice.

It is my concern. I enjoy those games and I don't want you to delay or **** off the people doing it. You know what? If you continue, I think I'll kjust quit and join the other on reporting you on sight. Enjoy your community of one.
Delay? You can only thank me for making the game better, and if they listened to me more there would also be music and sound support now, it would be much faster and smoother, it would have properly working NPCs, above ground z-levels, dozens of crashes and hundreds of bugs and glitches less, and fully functional tiles support long time ago, plus more. My ungrateful human friend, I am only sharing, informing, I'm not the one who is lying, stealing, leeching and scamming. So you are not here because you are playing my mod, you actually came here only to pick a fight with me, to do what you are accusing me of. Oh, the irony. But I forgive you, because I'm amazing. P.S. And yeah, I know GalenEvil has been late. Doesn't give you the right to start attacking everyone for no good reasons. And his code has been updated by now, it's in the repo.
He's been saying for three weeks it's all almost done, but as of today his most recent code is still missing vehicles, furniture, monsters, items, traps, fields, sunlight/shadows, and have tiles without transparency. Where originally there was 80% sprites and tiles done, now there is still 90% missing. Attacking would be when you fabricate lies and make false accusations, like you are doing here. On the other hand, since I'm telling the truth, it's called "exposing". You are like Gestapo, I'm like WikiLeaks.

They never told anyone they were tilesets ready to go.
- "... You'll be able to plug in and play with a variety of community provided graphics packs, many of which already exist and are ready to go." http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/568375735/cataclysm-dark-days-ahead-dedicated-developer- "... our programmer has begun work on getting tileset support working, and is making good progress. I expect it to be finished early next week, and several folks on the forum have tilesets ready to plug in and go." http://en.cataclysmdda.com/postsAnd they never took credit for anyone's work, as GalenEvil has regularly cited utunnel both on forum and the dev logs.
Who is going to get the credit for making tiles support, who is getting the money? GalenEvil mentioned Utunnels, but give him no credit for doing 90% of the job and instead pretends he designed and made it himself. Look at those two links above, he made nothing, it was more functional three months ago. See it, believe it. Utunnels is also not credited for his SDL port. There is no Teseng in game credits for making original Windows port. Acidia is not in game credits for his new buildings. I'm not credited anywhere for making animations work on Windows. Anyway, please stop. Look on Bay12: Toady is another programmer doing his own little free game. Your relentless spam is taking significant development time away. If you want to discuss, discuss, but just stay quite, refrain from ad hominem and don't just post the same thing again and again.
Moreover, it's not working. If you had a community or anything to show for it, maybe, but you're actively keeping people away with your behavior. Look at the CDDA forum and yours. One got a vibrant community, now spanning several language, and the other got you and me. This is not because of the CDDA team, it's your own making. You're not going to draw anyone with spam and ban-dodging.
It's not your concern. You should be more worried about people lying to you and trying to keep information away from you. GalenEvil on August 07, 2013: - "hope I can get this all done by quitting time tomorrow"http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=2093.msg35888GalenEvil on August 14, 2013: - "I'll be spending today working on getting everything finalized."http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=2674.msg37794GalenEvil on August 18, 2013: - "I am at an almost satisfactory position and will be putting it up in about 2 hours"http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=1925.msg38839
